The Serpents Kiss (1.1) Objectives

IMG_20180319_074015Let me welcome you to my 2nd post of ‘The Serpents Kiss’ that is tracking my managerial career at Internazionale.  In my first post which you can read here I talked about the tactic that I would be using and reviewed my first 10 games of the season. In today’s post I am going to talk about the objectives of the save, but first I would like to thank everyone who have made me welcome around the blogging scene and the feedback that they have given me.

So what do I want to get out of the save?

Tactical System

I am looking to build a system based on solid defending, now that does not mean that I want to park the bus or aeroplane or any other vehicle, what I am looking for is to bring the traditional Italian defending back to the game, defending seems a lost art in the modern game. It seems light years away from when I grew up watching the Italian game that produced very good all round defender’s who were made up of the following attributes:

  • Intelligence
  • Positioning
  • Off The Ball
  • Tackling
  • Heading
  • Anticipation
  • Bravery
  • Marking
  • Strength

Now I don’t want us to play boring football, I am looking for us to be solid at the back but play an easy on the eye style of football.

Player Development

I am a big believer in player development so I will be looking to build the best coaching staff that we can get and continue to improve our facilities year on year.

Player Recruitment

Even the World’s biggest clubs with top quality youth development still go out in to the transfer market and recruit. Now my first priority will be to promote within but sometimes that is not possible in terms of quality so I will access each transfer on its on merit. Whilst growing up Inter had a love affair with a few German players including Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, Lothar Matthäus, Andreas Brehme, Jürgen Klinsmann and Matthias Sammer. I am going to look at trying to resurrect that connection and over the save see if I can bring in one or two German players along with my first priority of Italian nationality players.

Financial Management

I am going to endeavour to bring in a financial model that protects the clubs future in terms of controlling the wages ect. The club is losing money at the moment so I feel I need to get control of the financial side of things.

Club Targets

Long term I would like to emulate both Helenio Herrera and Jose Mourinho in bringing the European Cup / Champions League title back to Milan, but before that I want us to break the Juventus domination domestically. I want to turn Inter in to the number one club in Italy and then Europe.

  • Aim to keep most clean sheets in Serie A each season
  • Win the Coppa Italia
  • Win Serie A and break the Juventus stranglehold
  • Win back to back Serie A titles
  • Win the Europa League
  • Win the Champions League
  • Win the Club World Cup
  • Break the clubs consecutive games won record which stands at 17
  • Break the club most wins in a Serie A 38 match season which stands at 30
  • Turn a newgen in to a club legend
  • Bring 3 German players in to the club to replicate the Matheus, Klinsmann and Brehme era

Thank you for taking the time to read this quick update, my next update will track our progression as season one in Milan draws to an end.
